The Taiwan EPA (Environmental Protection Administration) successfully finished air and water sampling in Taiping (Itu-Aba) Island, Nansha(Spratly) Islands and the nearby sea area from September 21~27, 2009. The results of sampling analysis indicate both the air quality and the water quality in the area being in good condition. This provides crucial information about environmental conditions in the southern-most area of the country for the first time.
The Nansha (Spratly) Islands and the South China Sea environmental monitoring plan is very important for completing the Taiwan environmental monitoring network and strengthening monitoring capability. All the monitoring data and analysis results have been posted on the EPA website for the public. People interested in environmental conditions are free to search related information through the EPA website http://taqm.epa.gov.tw/taqm for air quality and http://wqshow.epa.gov.tw/ for water quality.
