臺美共同主辦 IEMN 年會開幕  彭啓明部長錄影致詞強調 AI 與數位循環新解方

環境部資源循環署與美國環保署共同於 9 月 16 日上午(臺北時間16日晚間)在巴西聖保羅舉行國際電子廢棄物管理網絡(IEMN)年會開幕式,吸引來自哥倫比亞、阿根廷、智利、厄瓜多、菲律賓、馬來西亞、泰國、越南、美國及巴西等逾 70 名代表參與。

環境部彭啓明部長透過錄影致詞指出,面對氣候變遷與資源有限的挑戰,全球必須積極尋求創新解決方案。今年年會以「探索數位科技與 AI 應用於電子廢棄物管理的潛力」為主題,臺灣也藉此分享產品數位護照推動成果,以及人工智慧在廢棄物分類的應用經驗,展現臺灣在循環經濟轉型的具體作為。

彭部長強調,透過數位與 AI 科技的導入,不僅能提升資源回收效率,更能加速各國邁向綠色成長與淨零轉型。資源循環署代表亦在現場與各國交流,盼與國際夥伴攜手打造更具韌性與永續的電子廢棄物管理模式。

IEMN 自 2011 年由臺美共同推動至今,已成為全球推動電子廢棄物妥善處理的重要平台,未來也將持續串聯國際夥伴,為全球永續發展貢獻關鍵力量。

 Taiwan and U.S. Co-host IEMN Annual Meeting in Brazil with Minister Highlighting AI Solutions for Circular Economy

The Resource Circulation Administration of Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency co-hosted the opening of the International E-Waste Management Network (IEMN) Annual Meeting on September 16 in São Paulo, Brazil, drawing over 70 representatives from countries in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the U.S., and Brazil.

In his video remarks, Minister of Environment Chi-Ming Peng stressed the importance of adopting innovative solutions through digital technology and AI to address climate change and resource challenges. Taiwan shared its progress in promoting the digital product passport and applying AI to waste classification, showcasing concrete actions toward a circular economy.

Since its launch in 2011, IEMN has become a key global platform for advancing sustainable e-waste management. Taiwan and the U.S. reaffirmed their commitment to working with international partners to strengthen resilience and accelerate progress toward green growth and net-zero goals.
